Hi, I'm Kathryn Williams and I have been through a lot in my journey with two movement disorders since birth - essential tremors and dystonia. In 2018, I underwent brain operations to implant a DBS, but unfortunately, it led to brain infections and left me in a wheelchair until 2021. Finally, the DBS was successfully implanted, but now I am faced with the challenge of recovering and rehabilitating my body to regain my physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This process has been difficult and I have found myself at a standstill on my road to recovery. However, I have made progress by teaching myself how to walk again, bend my arms, and use my hands, as well as losing 45kg. Currently, I am focused on improving my balance, muscle tone, physical pain and endurance. I have discovered a specialized adult electric trike called the Alpine Electronic Trike - E Tricycle that is designed for individuals with similar challenges like mine. I have three beautiful children and a partner that I really want to do things with again. Despite never asking for help before, I am humbling myself to seek assistance as I know this equipment will greatly aid in my recovery. Unfortunately, I do not have the financial means to acquire it on my own. If anyone is able to support me in this journey and celebrate every victory with me, I would be forever grateful.
