On July 3rd around 9:00pm Ruby was let outside for her last potty break. Some neighbors were setting off fireworks for the holiday. Like many pets, Ruby is so scared of fireworks. When the blast went off she ran and escaped out of the fence. Right at that moment she was struck by a car. The driver slowed down and then sped off, leaving Ruby laying on the side of the road.

A neighbor saw it and scooped Ruby up and brought her to her parents. Ruby is fighting for her life. After the accident, she was still breathing but couldn't move her hind legs. Her parents rushed her to the emergency vet to see if there was any hope left.

Ruby had significant trauma to her tiny little body. She suffers from a l1 l2 spinal cord injury, a tear in her lung, and some internal bleeding. Not to mention the scrapes and bruises from the accident.

Ruby has already totaled up $2,700 in vet bills and needs to continue her stay in the animal hospital. A day alone will cost $300-$500 to continue to rehab Ruby. The vet expects that she will need anywhere from 1-2 weeks in the ICU.

While Ruby may never be able to run again without a wheel chair, we hope that she can make a full recovery and live for another 6-8 years, playing with her non fur siblings and her fur life mate Tucker.

No pet owner ever anticipates a cost like this. If you could help alleviate some of the financial burden placed on Ruby's parents that would be incredibly helpful! Can you help Rehab Ruby?
