Rehab for Steve Hockett

My uncle Steve Hockett suffered a massive stroke as the result of an aneurysm that burst on the evening of May 28.  He was flown to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. The medical team installed a drain to relieve the pressure in his skull and flew him to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, where he received life-saving surgery to stop the bleeding into his brain.

He was in the Neuro ICU for 27 days before being moved to the Neuro recovery floor to begin the therapy and rehabilitation necessary to regain his independence.  Upon discharge from the hospital, he will most likely be admitted to a nearby rehabilitation center until he gains strength and mobility to return home. In-home therapy will complete the process, all of which may take from 4 months to a year.

Steve’s wife, Pam, is assisting with his care in Colorado and is renting a room near the hospital.  She has taken a leave of absence from her summer employment and will have limited income during his recovery and rehabilitation.
