Howdy, everyone! My name is Camille and my ultimate dream is to rescue Arabians and half Arabians from abuse, neglect, and slaughter--to provide them with full rehabilitation- physically, mentally, and emotionally, and to eventually place them in loving forever homes. I am in the process of making that dream a reality. My organization, Driftwood Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is in the final stages of incorporating as a 501c(3) nonprofit sanctuary. Our space and team not only rehabilitates these majestic beings but provides a space for connection --for humans to also learn from the teachings of the herd. Over the past couple months, we have taken in over 20 rescues. These particular horses were the ones no one wanted--the extra vulnerable-- the ones who were out of time, and considered "unhandleable". They all came to us incredibly sick, malnourished, injured and in need of super special care. My team and I have been up for the challenge! You wouldn't even recognize many of our herd from when they first arrived. Through our program, we have been able to offer them a new opportunity to live.
We couldn't wait for our official nonprofit status to start helping these vulnerable friends. With the support of friends and family, we have began to create a sanctuary for them to heal and thrive. Each donation made through GoFundMe prior to our official incorporate can be backdated to become a tax deductible donation. We are raising money to provide optimal care for our new friends, infrastructure for our sanctuary, and essential nonprofit start up costs. Once they are ready, some horses will get to live freely on an open pasture and others will get the opportunity to attend school, gaining vital skills in order to find a forever home.

I believe that helping horses helps humans also-- that we have so much to learn from their humility, grace, and undivided presence. - Sponsorship of daily horse care and stall maintenance
- Medical expenses (many of our horses come to us needing special attention and care)
- Vet visits (occasionally surgery, farrier, dental)
- Food (hay, alfalfa, grain, supplements)
- Increased infrastructure to support their care-- fencing, run in pasture shelter, barn gates)
