Hi! I’m Regi, aka Irregular Girl, and I’m fundraising for my Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) on April 15th, 2025. Your support in meeting my fundraising goal is the last push I need to achieve this life changing surgery, and to feel safer and more at home in my body.

I am raising money to help with the cost of my insurance copay, flights and lodging in LA for my care team for a week while I recover, and the cost of groceries during our stay.

This is the end of a three year long process that has involved discriminatory insurance policies and legal action. In 2022, my insurance denied my coverage for FFS under an exclusion in their policy that denied “care, services or treatment for transsexuals. This exclusion includes medications, implants, hormone therapy, surgery, medical or psychiatric treatment.” So evil and so illegal!

After getting a lawyer and working with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, we managed to get the insurance to change their policy. Despite this, they denied my surgery again as they deemed it “not medically necessary.”

I realized I was getting nowhere with those people, so I changed my insurance at the cost of paying a much more expensive monthly premium, which drained a lot of the funds I had saved up. After half a year of negotiations, my new insurance and surgeon’s office gave me a date - April 15th, 2025, 47 days from time of writing.

I am so happy to finally be this close to the next step in my transition. I’ve fought for this day for a long time, since my insurance first denied my coverage and I willed myself into not giving up anymore. I need help to get the rest of the way there. I am hoping to raise as much of this goal as possible to help with the financial burden this process has been and continues to be.
