Team USA trip to Serbia

My name is Leonna Castro, Brazilian and American, im 15 years old and have played waterpolo since I was 9 years old.

Ive lived in Miami for almost 12 years, playing for Miami Riptides for 5 of those years. Meanwhile, when I visit Brasil, I play for Sports Club Pinheiros in SP.

I practice Monday through Saturday, was 2x MVP in 2024 and 2025 for MAST Academy and the only athlete in the history of the school to be named Miami Herald 1st team all dade as a middle schooler. As well as being selected to go to Colorado to practice at the Olympic training center. Including being 14u Brasileiro champion in Rio de Janeiro November of 2024. Not including other individual interstate accomplishments.

All of my vacations are planned around waterpolo, since it is what I want my future to be.

During Spring break, I went to Utah for ODP (Olympic Development Program) Nationals. This summer im going to Barcelona, Spain, for a waterpolo camp, mainly because one of the Brazilian National Team coaches will be there watching and evaluating how im playing in order for her to make her final decisions on the Pan-American team.

My dream is to play waterpolo in the national, collegiate and eventually in the olympic level.

For this to happen, there is a program here in the US called ODP, where the best players of the country are actively being watched and evaluated by national team coaches in order to possibly make the US National Team.

My first ODP was in 2023, playing for the Development age group, and I made it up to the 3rd phase.

In 2024, still in Development, I made it to the 4th and final phase, NTSC, National Team Selection Camp, and was almost selected for the National team but fell short.

This year, I injured my shoulder a little before Nationals in Utah, causing me to underperform and therefore, what I believed would ruin my chances of making NTSC.

To my surprise, I recently received notice that I was selected to represent Team USA in Regional All Stars Futures International Training Trip in Belgrado, Serbia, where the best from the US will be present, training and competing against Serbias National team and other teams.

Being selected to represent USA in Serbia is truly a dream come true, since opportunities like this do not come around every day.

With the Barcelona trip, Serbia trip, and hopefully Brazil trip in the near future, the costs are very high.

Now my goal is to fundraise money so that I can follow my dreams as an athlete.

For this, I need to fundraise $5,000 in order to attend both BIWPA in Barcelona, and USA All Stars in Serbia, representing both of my countries.

All of my recent costs have been paid by my parents, which I am very thankful for, but unfortunately these costs have exceeded their limits.

I need your help, people that truly believe in me and want to invest in this sport of waterpolo.

Meu nome é Leonna Castro, Brasileira e Americana, tenho 15 anos e treino polo aquático desde os 9 anos.

Moro há quase 12 anos em Miami, Jogo pelo Miami Riptides, e no Brasil pelo Esporte Clube Pinheiros em SP.

No final de 2023, fui escolhida entre tantas Atletas para ir ao Colorado e treinar no famoso Centro de Treinamento ( Olympic Training Center ).

No ano de 2024 e ainda middle schooler ( 8th grade ) e concorrendo com as High Schoolers ( 9th to 12th grade - 14 a 18 anos ) fui premiada como MVP ( Most Valuable Player ) da escola MAST Academy, sendo a única Atleta da história ( middle Schooler - 14 anos ) da escola a ser selecionada pelo Miami Herald Journal, como 1st Team all County.

Agora em 2025 , alem de Capita do Time e novamente MVP, pela MAST Academy, fui selecionada pelo Miami Herald Jornal, como 1st Team All Dade, pela 2x consecutiva.

Todas as minhas ferias ou feriados sao destinados ao Polo Aquatico, pois sei exatamente onde quero chegar e o que tenho que fazer para chegar la.

Nas férias de primavera de 2025, fui para Utah pelo ODP (Olympic Development Program) Nationals.

Neste verão estou indo para Barcelona, na Espanha , para um acampamento de Polo Aquatico, sendo que uma das técnicas da Seleção Brasileira estará me avaliando para a sua escalação final para os jogos Pan-Americanos de SUB 15.    

Meu sonho é jogar Polo em nível nacional, universitária e eventualmente chegar nas Olimpíadas.

Para isso, há um programa aqui nos EUA que se chama ODP (Programa de Desenvolvimento Olímpico) onde as melhores jogadoras do País estarão presentes e sendo avaliadas através de triagens até chegar ao Time Nacional.

O meu primeiro ODP foi em 2023, pelo nível Development e cheguei até a 3ª fase.

Em 2024, ainda Development, cheguei à fase final, NTSC, National Team Selection Camp, e quase fui selecionada para a seleção nacional.

Este ano, me lesionei pouco antes da seletiva nacional e acabei ficando de fora nas fases finais da seletiva.

Para minha surpresa, acabei de receber a notícia de que fui selecionada para participar da viagem de treinamento internacional da Team USA, Regional All Stars Futures, em Belgrado, Sérvia, que acontecerá em Agosto, onde as melhores do EUA estarão presentes, treinando e disputando contra o time nacional da Servia.

Ser selecionada para representar os EUA na Sérvia é realmente um sonho que se tornou realidade, alem de que , oportunidades como esta, não surgem todos os dias.

Como em julho, devido ao Panamericano SUB15 estarei indo para Barcelona e os custos são altos, a minha meta agora é arrecadar fundos para eu poder ir em Agosto para Serbia com o Team USA.

Para isso, eu preciso arrecadar $5,000 para poder estar presente tambem no CAMP da Servia e poder representar meus 2 países, jogando entre as melhores respectivamente.

Todos os custos até agora são dos meus Pais e por isso, eu preciso da ajuda de voces e de quem realmemte acredita e investe no esporte.
