Region Ten Underground Cycling Challenge pb CRC

Tax deductible
On September 20, the Charlottesville Racing Club is going to ride 100 miles on the traditional route of the Cycling Challenge, which had been a long-running charity ride to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Central VA. For various reasons, this event was cancelled in 2019, and about a dozen members of the club and local cycling community rode anyway to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club. This year, we are continuing the tradition of the "Underground" Cycling Challenge in smaller groups of socially-distant riding buddies to support Region Ten, a Central Virginia organization that promotes mental health, intellectual disability, and substance abuse treatment services, in memory of our friend and fixture of the Charlottesville cycling and medical communities, Mark Robbins. We feel that the support of Region Ten and their mission is especially vital now, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting so many people who may have lost their jobs, loved ones, or are facing isolation or anxiety.

So please consider helping the Charlottesville Racing Club achieve its goal of raising $1,000 for Region Ten. No amount is too small, and these donations can have a large impact on members of our local community.

For cyclists who are interested, we encourage you to do a ride in Mark's memory as well, between now and the end of September. You might choose the Cycling Challenge route, ridden by many of us in previous years, or any other variation. This is an excellent opportunity to piggyback mileage and elevation on local pro Ben King's own Ride Home Roads charity (Aug. 29-Sept. 20).
