Urgent Help Needed: Support Reginal and His Daughter

Donation protected
Thank you for helping Reginal! He has used the funds you donated to pay for his first-year tuition at College La Citi in Ottawa, Canada, where he will begin studying in August.
Reginal is bowled over by your generosity. “Dozens of people I have never met are helping find a safe place for me and my daughter to live,” he said. “We are so relieved — AND GRATEFUL — that our future is safe. I will never forget your generosity.”
Beyond tuition, meeting our $50,000 fund-raising goal will help Reginal cover moving costs and his first six months of housing expense.
We are leaving this account open for anyone who may still want to contribute. We’ll keep you up to date on Reginal’s progress.
Barb, Jim, Kelly and I extend our deep appreciation to everyone who helped.

Due to sudden changes in USCIS policy, our dear friend Reginal Remarais and his young daughter are facing deportation to Haiti on August 3—a country currently overwhelmed by extreme gang violence and political instability.

Reginal and his daughter legally entered the U.S. in June 2023 through a USCIS Humanitarian program, sponsored and supported by Maureen Johnson, Barb Rehm, and Jim & Kelly Weisgerber. Reginal applied for and was granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Unfortunately, due to recent changes by the current administration, the TPS program has been truncated, and Reginal’s visa will now expire on August 3.

In search of safety and stability, Reginal has made the difficult decision to relocate his family to Canada, where he has already secured an international student visa and will begin his studies at La Cité College this summer.

However, he cannot make this transition without our help. Reginal must raise funds to cover:
• First-year tuition
• Living expenses in Canada
• Costs associated with the move

This family followed all the rules, and now they are facing another life-altering challenge through no fault of their own. We’re asking our friends, family, and community to please help Reginal and his daughter avoid a forced return to danger.

Please share this message with others who may be able to help.

Every contribution counts—thank you for standing with Reginal and his daughter in this critical moment.

Maureen Johnson, Barb Rehm, and Jim & Kelly Weisgerber
