Hello everyone. This has been a very trying year for my family. My mother Eva Portillo was diagnosed and treated for lung cancer earlier this year. At that time I reached out to our friends and family for help with her treatments, surgery and multiple trips to Houston, Texas. At this time, I would like to thank you again for your help for my mother.

Unfortunately I am here again asking for your help. My older sister Regina (Gina) Portillo unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Gina was born on August 13, 1970 to David Leo and Eva Portillo. She graduated from Balmorhea High school. After high school she continued her education, became an LVN and continued to live in Balmorhea.

If you were lucky enough to have known my sister, you would know she was a kind, warm hearted, smart, funny and a loving person. She would have done anything for anyone, never judged anyone and loved her friends and family deeply. During our mother's fight with cancer, Gina took care of her. Gina took our mother to doctor appointments, chemotherapy appointments, retrieved/gave her medications, made sure all her exercised where done, cooked, cleaned and looked after the entire household.

Gina did all of this and more while she was ill. Never wanting to be a burden or bother, she suffered in silence. All the while doing for others. Although she did not practice nursing professionally anymore due to an injury, Gina was still the best nurse I have ever know.

Gina is survived by our mother Eva Portillo, her daughters Tia, Sasha, Adriana and son Nigiel, her sisters Michelle and Jessica Portillo, and brothers David and Gerald Portillo.

At this time our family is reaching out to ask for prayers for our family and if possible assistance with Gina's funeral expenses. Any prayers or financial help you are able to give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
