Dear Friends and Family,
It's never easy asking for help, but when it comes to my boy Reggie, I have to put my pride aside and focus on what's important, which is his well being.
With a heavy heart, I am here to inform you that my sweet boy Reggie has a Glioma (Tumor) in the front, right side of his brain, with swelling surrounding the area. The area that the glioma is growing in is too difficult to be removed surgically, which means Reggie will need to receive Radiation treatment to kill the tumor.
The Glioma is about 2-3cm in size at its widest point and the growth is in a particular part-of his brain that can cause seizures and effects certain behavioral changes like constant pacing and walking in circles.
Reggie has now had 4 seizures that result in him severely convulsing and biting his tongue. He has also been pacing around and restless at night for the last 2 months.
He is currently on Keppra (Levetiracetam) to help suppress his seizures and a (Prednisone) steroid to reduce the swelling around the effected area.
He goes in for another MRI scan, March 31st, to see if the swelling has reduced enough to prepare for the radiation treatment. He will need 3 doses (3 Dr. visits) of that treatment. A post screening MRI will be needed to check the results or the treatment as well.
The good news: After speaking with the neurologist about the procedure and his previous experiences with Gliomas in dogs of his breed. They say the procedure could give him up to 18-20 months rather than the older procedures that are only up to 9months. We are very hopeful that the procedure will be successful and wish to move forward.
For the most part, Reggie’s temperament is his normal self with small fits of pacing and whining, but he still has lots of energy and we still go on our daily morning runs!
Any donation at any amount is immensely appreciated! Anything and everything counts, please share this link as well!!
I have attached the medical treatment plans for transparency.
Reggie and I thank you from the Bottom of our Hearts!
