Reggies helmet therapy

Hey all, I no its a hard time for us all at the moment but was hoping as people who love and care for Kyle, Shauna & Reggie we could take abit of pressure off there hands so they can concentrate on getting Reggie ready for his open heart surgery..

This is our boy Reggie. Reggie is 5 months old. Reggie has been through so much in such a short space of time yet he continues to show such resilience and strength.

Reggie was born with a very rare condition called Heterotaxy syndrome, left atrial isomerism with polysplenia. Reggie has already undergone major surgery and is currently awaiting open heart surgery at great ormond street hospital.

Recently Reggie has been diagnosed with a common condition called Plagiocephaly. Reggie is on the severe end of this diagnosis. Plagiocephaly, also known as flat head syndrome, is a condition characterized by an asymmetrical distortion (flattening of one side) of the skull. A mild and widespread form is characterized by a flat spot on the back or one side of the head caused by remaining in a supine position for prolonged periods.

As Reggie had spent a lot of time in hospital due to his ongoing condition and is due to go back into hospital again soon he needs some additional support with correcting this.

Unlike other countries, in the UK the NHS doesn't offer any help with this condition. There is a treatment available called helmet therapy where Reggie will wear a bespoke helmet which focuses on redirecting cranial growth towards normal symmetry. This is accomplished with total contact over prominent areas & allowing room for growth in areas of flattening. Throughout his development, the treatment is guiding the direction of growth through progressive adjustments to encourage cranial symmetry.

The ideal time to start this treatment is between 4 and 7 months. We need to begin treatment soon to hopefully achieve correction before he returns to Great ormond street hospital.

The treatment costs £2600. We need help to get this treated properly and would greatly appreciate any support. He is our little fighter, our heart warrior ♥️
