For those of you who personally know Jesse and I, you would know how much Reggie means to us. He is not just our dog. He is our baby, our constant source of joy, and the reason we became a family.
After suddenly becoming sick over the last weekend of February, we rushed Reggie to the emergency vet where we received devastating and completely unexpected news. The veterinary team told us that Reggie has a very low red blood cell count, and imaging showed that his spleen and liver are enlarged. After further testing, the doctors also became deeply concerned about enlarged lymph nodes and abnormalities with his pancreas.
This shocking diagnosis has left us heartbroken and terrified for our little boy. The veterinarians have recommended immediate hospitalization and an emergency laparotomy; a surgical procedure needed to remove the fluid from his abdomen and to determine what is causing these severe issues, whether it could be a tumor or potentially cancer involving his pancreas.
We didn’t hesitate to begin treatment, but the costs have quickly become overwhelming. We have already exhausted all of our available funds trying to stabilize him and run the necessary tests. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning, and there will be significant additional costs depending on what the surgeons find during his operation.
Reggie is only a baby. At just 16 months old, he has so much life left to live. He is loving, playful, and brings so much happiness to everyone who meets him. He has changed us for the better; both individually and as parents. We are absolutely devastated, but we are determined to fight for him and give him every chance at the life he deserves.
If you are able to help in any way; whether through a donation or by sharing Reggie’s story, we would be endlessly grateful. Every bit of support brings us one step closer to getting our sweet boy the care he urgently needs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us fight for Reggie.
Jesse & Lorena
