Reggie is a 4 year old German/Australian Shepherd mix, and he is our prized boy. He got out of our yard during the storms on August 26th, and we searched for over 9 hours following whatever leads we could. The following morning on August 27th we received a call at 8 am from a witness stating that a large truck hit him and did not stop. We rushed to the scene and found him laying under the witnesses car. (Thank you so much for staying with him) We dragged him out and rushed him to the hospital.
After examination and a day of observation, the veterinarian said he shows no signs of internal organ damage, which they stated was nothing short of a miracle. He did however, suffer a significant fracture to his rear left femur.
After paying for the emergency visit, we were told the surgery would cost $4000 and be due day of the surgery. As recent college graduates who just started jobs and moved away from our college towns, this is an enormous financial emergency we were not prepared for.
Reggie is our pride and joy, we monitor his health better than our own and we are devastated this has happened. We would not be asking for help if we thought we could pull off the funds in time on our own. Any amount helps and we are deeply indebted to those who choose to help us out with the costs.
