Reggie Smith Fundraiser

OK folks, time to rally and help out a young lady who needs some help. Reggie Smith was viciously attacked by two Pitt Bull Mix Dogs on the evening of Thursday, May 5, 2022. Officials on the scene said it was the worst dog attack they had ever seen. She has been at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, ever since. She was able to fight off the dogs after a long struggle and is very lucky to be alive. She has a long recovery road ahead of her.

Reggie works in the office of an elementary school in Rockingham County. She also tutors children. Reggie is one of the sweetest, kind-hearted people and is loved by everyone who meets her. She has always been such a good person with a huge heart.

Reggie required three units of blood after the attack just to be stable enough for the initial surgery. She has multiple wounds on both arms and legs. Some are very deep and wide. There is a high risk of infection due to so many wounds and some which are still open (but covered.) She has battled things like low blood pressure, fever, and coughing. She has already had three surgeries and will likely require more. She spent some time in ICU and is now in a regular room. Once she goes home, she will still have medical devices called vacuums attached to open wounds on her arm and leg. These will likely require skin grafts in the future. Her mobility is limited due to her weakness and the bandages and medical devices. She had 61 total wounds, a majority being severe.
