Reggie, a cat in need. Hello neighbors, we have a cat that has adopted our home as his own.
I posted much of this story on NextDoor and was encouraged to go ahead and start The GoFundMe, if we do not raise enough, the money will just be refunded to you anyhow!

Reggie's story: We have seen this cat for quite some time now, a couple of years perhaps. He would stop by and eat the feral cat food we often leave on the porch. He would say a distanced 'hello' to us and be on his way, eventually enjoying a pat on the head but seemed to be a wanderer. He has always looked a bit scruffy but his health has clearly deteriorated and he had increased his visits A LOT, coming for every meal of the day and then sneaking in the cat door to quietly slink downstairs to the basement. The visits then became "moving into the house" about a month and half ago. He took up residence in a corner of the kitchen, attempting not to rock the boat with the other cats in the house. We took things slowly as he was still pretty skittish and wanted to gain some trust before we got bold enough to take him to the vet.

We did end up taking him to the vet and the vet did not have good news, as we expected. The vet says his teeth are very infected and many, if not all, need to be extracted. He is now very comfortable here, we love this guy, but we cannot have another cat here. We have been very diligent over the years to trap and release a feral cat population. Many of our cats were kittens from that original feral colony, before we were able to fix their mothers. We have fed, housed, trapped, fixed and adopted out many cats and kittens over the past 12 years. I write to you all in hopes that some kind souls might wish to donate to his cause so that he can have a more comfortable visit to the vet and a singular home to recover in until he is able to be adopted out.

We have made a deal with our cats to foster him until he finds a home. We made a deal with our pocket book to pay for the original check up which was almost $300, the increase in cat food, and the natural supplements I am using to help boost his immune system and keep his pain down. We have nicknamed this good guy Reggie. He is a delight and will make a great cat for someone. Please contact me if you are interested in adopting him.

I did call multiple places, including the Seattle Animal Shelter who said they could take him but he would have to be housed there in the cages for at least 6 days, and then fostered at one of their approved fosters in addition to having to recover from major dental work, it would require a complete uproot from his currently comfortable situation. This is still an option on the table, but felt it would be most ideal and comfortable for Reggie to be with people and a place he knows until he is able to get adopted. Another aspect of the story is that he does have a microchip registered to an adoption place in Arlington, however they told us and the vet, that the batch of microchips were stolen and it is not traceable to an owner so we do not know an owner. Based purely on the observation and the timing of how he has decided to move in, it seems clear he does not have a caretaker. Obviously, if he does have an owner and they are able to be found it would be great but the signs do not seem to be pointing that way currently.

As you can see in the photos he sticks his tongue out and drools due to the bad teeth. If we don’t get enough to cover the vets low estimate ($1600) we will need to take him to the Seattle Animal Shelter but I thought I would try to raise the money to aid in Reggie's comfort level first. (The high estimate was $2600) I am also happy to be very transparent about the bills and the payments to the vet, etc.
I made the amount $2000 as is it a bit above the low estimate for just in case scenario and we can go from there if it is bigger.

Thanks again, I know this is a difficult time financially and emotionally for many people.
All the best,
Ralee and Reggie
