Regan's Journey to USA National Showcase Championship

Hello! My name is Regan French. This coming August I have qualified to compete in the USA National Showcase Championships in California. I have started this Gofundme to help offset some of my expenses.

I have been Figure Skating since I was 7 years old and competing at a National level competition has always been a dream of mine. I began as Syncro-Skater at one of our local clubs but quickIy realized that I preferred skating as a Singles Skater. I was introduced to Artistic Skating by a Coach that came to our club who had previously skated with Disney On Ice. Training with this coach helped me to discover my passion for this style of Performance Skating. My focus has since shifted from Freeskate and jumping to the Artistic side of Figure Skating. This category is much less about the jumps and more about being expressive and showing emotion through the music. I was inspired to pursue the Artistic aspects of Figure Skating by working with another coach that came to our club. Under her leadership Skate Muskoka presented two ice shows with all-star guests skaters. I loved the showcase, the spotlight, the cheering of the crowd and I love to compete. It was then I knew I wanted to do more Showcase and Artistic Skating. In Canada, there are currently very few opportunities to compete. My coach Christine Whyte encouraged me to travel to the USA to attend a regional qualifying competition for the USA National Showcase Championship. We made a plan and choreographed 3 programs to take to Ann Arbor Michigan for the competition. I competed those 3 programs in Michigan and qualified in all 3 events for the National Championships in California in August 2024. It is dream come true!!!

All funds from this page will go towards traveling, coaching costs, and extra ice time which is around $8,500. I am so grateful for this opportunity and with a little help I know I can make my dream happen!
