Refurnish and update Grace's House!

Hi my name is Amanda and I am raising money to maintain, refurnish and update Grace's house. If you knew Grace, you would whole heartedly understand why preserving her house for future campers at Camp-Ta-Kum-Ta is so important. My goal is to bring it back to what it was. Below is an article off of the Camp Ta Kum Ta website. This will tell you the story of how her vision became a reality and where the house stands today.

"In 2003, an eight year old Grace Emery from Milton, Vermont wanted a playhouse. As she was undergoing treatments for Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, she began drawing pictures and telling her family what she dreamed of for her playhouse. With the help of a local contractor, local businesses, and lots and lots of volunteers Grace’s Playhouse became a reality. In 2012, as Grace’s battle with Neuroblastoma was coming to an end she expressed her wish to have the playhouse moved to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, which was her favorite place on earth. On June 27, 2013 the very special playhouse was relocated from its original home in Milton, Vermont to its new home here at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta. Moving her Playhouse here has allowed kids to share in the fun, joy, and happiness it offered her and will continue to for years to come."

As a cabin counselor, Grace wasn't just my camper. She was a friend, she was family. She loved being in the spotlight. She always brought a smile to the faces of those who spent time with her. Two of my children had the privilege of being loved by her and along with their sister and an amazing group of volunteers, we are planning to bring her house to light again. It has sat in an amazing spot at Camp-Ta-Kum-Ta since 2013. My plan is to address the exterior, to clean the roof, power wash and paint, and repair the gutters and replace any water damage or rot.. Id also love to add some landscaping. Inside, I'd love to replace the flooring, add a fresh coat of paint, add furniture and decor to each room. My hope is for current and future campers, friends and family to enjoy Grace's house as she did.

All proceeds will go directly to Grace's house. I will be looking for volunteers to help along the way. The furnishings will be stored during the winter months. Over the fall and winter, I'll be collecting the furniture and accessories for the space. When spring comes around, I plan to begin the transformation.

Grace passed away 11 years ago. I believe in my heart that she would want her name known by those to come through camp year after year. She started this process by donating her house to the campers and would want it to last for many years to come.
