The Adams Avenue Business Association (AABA) is repainting the Normal Heights neon sign this week in time for Adams Avenue Unplugged! We are appealing to the surrounding neighborhood to join our GoFundMe campaign and help pay a portion of the $20,000 the sign rehabilitation costs.

We weren't planning on launching a GoFundMe until the Mayor proposed cutting our budget by $35,000 last week, after eliminating the same amount in funding to our organization last year. The City also tripled our Street Fair fees in '25, costing an additional $20,000. AABA is now projecting to lose $100,000+ this year on operations, thanks to the Mayor and City Council's targeting others for their mismanagement of public funds. It's the City's special thank you to the organization that created conditions for the City's decision to now install parking meters on Adams for their additional revenue.

Besides the special events AABA produces like Street Fair, Unplugged, Taste, Spirit Stroll, etc., we also are the district custodians and provide daily maintenance along 30 blocks of our business district, keeping the area clean and attractive We empty the 40 trash cans along the public right-of-way and are responsible for trimming or replacement of 450 street trees under our care. We also pick up litter and remove graffiti daily in addition to many other varied activities.
