Exciting News – The Castle Park !
Over the last few months we’ve had so many messages asking if the castle park behind Festival Café will ever reopen. We know how much it meant to local families, and we’ve wanted nothing more than to bring it back.
Today we’re delighted to say that we’ve finally been given the go-ahead to begin refurbishing and rebuilding the park!
Unfortunately, because of legal restrictions, we won’t be able to reopen both sides of the original park. However, we are committed to creating the very best play area we possibly can and hope to keep the same castle theme and design that so many children loved.
As you can see from the photos, the park has been left unused for some time and there’s a huge amount of work ahead of us. This isn’t just a case of repairing a few bits of equipment – much of it will need rebuilding to meet current safety standards.
❤️ This is where we need your help.
We’ll be launching a GoFundMe page in the coming days, and we’d be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how small. Every pound will go towards creating a safe, exciting place for children in our community to enjoy once again.
We’ve already spoken with the National Lottery, but unfortunately they aren’t able to fund the project because the park sits within the Festival Café grounds. We are also exploring support from the council, but any funding we receive is likely to cover only a small part of the overall cost.
This park has created so many happy memories over the years, and together we hope we can make many more for the next generation.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support Festival Café and believed in this project. We can’t wait to share the journey with you all.
The Park will be owned by the cafe and only accessible via the cafe. But is open to everyone between the hrs of 8am -5pm
