Help Us Care for Injured and Homeless Street Dogs
Donation protected
We are a small group of neighbors and friends working together to help the local street dogs here in the San Miguel de Allende area of central Mexico.
led by Mayé Córdova and Katie Gray, we have personally been providing food and paying for medical attention, including sterilization (spay and neutering) surgeries. As well, working intently to find short term and longterm homes for these beloved dogs. At one point, we brought 8 of the dogs directly home and worked together as neighbors to care for them until everyone found a home.
Most recently, we came across a puppy who had been hit by a car and was badly injured with a broken leg. She was in need of immediate surgery and is now recovering well (thankfully!!). The surgery itself cost around $1000 USD and will increase in cost depending on the follow up medical care needed. We will work with her daily through her 6-8 week rehabilitation, then begin the process of finding her a forever home.
What originally began as a heartfelt desire to do something in the spring of 2024, has blossomed into Refugio San Sebastián and an incredible mission to do whatever we can to help as many dogs as possible.
We are hoping to raise a minimum of $5000 with this campaign to continue helping these dogs with the many costs involved. The more money we can raise, the more animals we can help.
100% of the proceeds go directly to food, medical care, spaying, neutering and supplies needed in the process.
If you feel inspired to join our team and be a part of the healing, here is a breakdown of where the funds will go:
$1,000 for the recent surgery
$125 to provide the sterilization (spay or neuter) of a dog
$75 for the complete 3-rounds of preventative Parvo treatment per puppy
$50 for a month of locally made, high nutrient, raw dogfood for 1 dog
(we're working with a local dogfood maker named Leonardo and witnessing the underweight dogs coming to life with this nutrient-rich food)
$25 for a dog bed
Our short term goal is to sterilize, treat and home as many dogs as possible.
Our longterm goal is to create a non-profit with our own land and rehabilitation center so that we can help even more animals (we're helping donkeys and horses too, but that's another story!! :)
Other ways you can help - If you or someone you know live in the area of San Miguel de Allende and are interested in fostering or adopting, please contact us directly.
