My name is Malook Hazrat. I have a wife and six children, four boys and two girls. Because of the Taliban's cruilty my daughters never had a chance to go school and get an education.
I come from a rural area in northwest Pakistan. I owned a small organic grocery business, but due to increasing insecurity and cruilty by the Taliban I lost my business and home. Fortunately we were able to escape and moved to a refugee camp in Jalozi run by the US, EU, and the UN. Even living in a refugee camp was not safe.
As the security situation was getting worse, and people opposing the Taliban were kidnapped, tortured and killed. The Taliban was always searching for people who had escaped their homes and moved to refugee camps. It was time for me to decide to leave the country and start a new and safe life for me and my family.
The only way for me to reach a safe place was to travel to Brazil. After arriving in Brazil it took me nine months to travel, by foot while being detained in sevral latin american countries. The journey from Brazil to the US was long and extremely hard, and in some cases very dangerous, unpredictable, and life theatening.
After nine months of a trechurous journey I was able to reach the US and surrender to the US immigration authorities at the Mexico border. Once I surrendered to US imigration I spent 22 months in detention, awaiting the immigration process. During this time I was treated with respect and dignity, and provided with free legal councel.
On 04/08/2016 I was granted asylem and was released and moved to Boulder, Colorado. I am now employed at Lucky's market in Boulder. Just a week ago I got good news from USCIS, that my wife and childern were granted asylum and will be processed to join me in the US.
As my income is very limited, I am hardly albe to support my family back home. Now I have no other resourse to pay for their travel expences. My estimate is it will take nearly $15,000 for my family to get here. I am so happy that finaly my family will be safe and have a chance to get an education. I am sure my daughters revel in a chance to attend schools, as they have never had a chance to do so.
I strongly belive in the generousity and kindness of the american people, therfore I am asking for finacial assistance, so my wife and children can come to the US to begin new safe lifes. I and my family have been though very hard times and more sad storys to share. but this a shortend version of our lives.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless america and the american people.
Sincerely,
Malook Hazrat
