Refugee Family Needs Support After Fire

Donation protected
Nadiro is a single, working mother of 7 and a Somali refugee. She moved to the U.S. with her family in October 2016.

On the morning of February 20th, 2020, there was a fire in her home on the North Side of Milwaukee that caused significant damage. The family was unharmed, but they need help with the repairs.

The family had moved into the home less than a week before after receiving a loan from Acts Housing. Nadiro took an opportunity to create a new home for her family and needs to repair the house. On top of the damages to the home, many of their belongings were lost, including clothes, shoes, beds, blankets, etc.

The first estimate they were given to repair their home to make it livable is $150,000.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will go towards restoring Nadiro’s home and making sure her family has a place to stay in the meantime.

If you have a labor skill that could help with repair and are willing to donate your time, and/or you have repair materials that you’re willing to donate, please contact.
