Beyond moral support and hands-on assistance, the one thing that people with breast cancer often need is help with the cost of breast cancer treatment. Even if a loved one is well-insured, the out of pocket expenses after deductibles, copayments and coinsurance can quickly amount to thousands of dollars. For those without insurance, covering the costs can be next to impossible without help from others. Charitable fundraising is one such way to help.

I am raising money to help an amazing friend of mine who has been diagnosed two months ago with stage 3 left breast cancer. She because a widow four (4) years ago and was left with five (5) kids to take care.

It’s known to us that people undergoing breast cancer treatment had out-od-pocket expenses exceeding $8,000 & costs were upwards around $35,000. This doesn’t take into account things like lost of income, child care, travel and commonly incurred during breast cancer treatment. Nor does it reflect the cost of ongoing care or the expense of treating advanced breast cancer.

My friend, Maria Lourdes Caraan is seeking support financially for her medical and monthly expenses. She lost her job and needs to assist and keep up with her 3 sons to college.

As of this writing, I visited her in New York and we were able to see each other. She is now suffering from hair loss and will be having 7 more of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation for the coming treatment.
