Reforesting the Ecuadorian Amazon
Donation protected

The campaign money has now been spent, and with it we have done the following:

Shortly we will announce the launch of our new organization, YAKUM.
YAKUM is a network of highly committed multi-disciplinary collaborators and indigenous people who share our vision. This group of individuals is committed to building the capacity of local communities and developing solutions together to conserve and regenerate threatened ecosystems.

We are now looking to build on our network of food forestry and reforestation projects in Shuar, Kichwa, Cofan and Siekopai indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The projects are designed to improve nutrition, strengthen cultural connections with important Amazon foods and increase forest cover in the Amazon.
Thanks to you, the YAKUM family, we have achieved amazing results and built incredible momentum amongst community members.

We are now entering another phase. In order to continue protecting rainforests, communities must become economically independent and culturally stable. Our success depends on being able to facilitate this process.
The communities need agroforestry equipment, seeds for reforestation, training in production of native commercial crops and links to buyers to be able to sell them on.
We have created www.yakum.org to inform you about our work. Although we are still working on it, we invite you to explore the site and sign up for the newsletter.
***If you would like to continue supporting us or know someone else or an organisation that might, feel free to contact me on [email redacted] to discuss. ***
