1. Hi, we are Pangaia, a small solarpunk farming community in the Amazon region of Peru. We aim to use permacultural traditions and methods to recover soil health on a farm that has been used for grazing cows and is completely degraded. Many neighboring farms have been investing in fish farms or cattle, thus completely reshaping the land, destroying soil fertility and increasing CO2 as well as methane emissions.

2. Hola, somos Pangaia, una comunidad agrícola solarpunk situada en la region amazónica del Perú. Nuestro objetivo es la recuperación de suelo, en una area totalmente degradada por ganado, a través de la permacultura. Muchos de nuestros vecinos estan invirtiendo en piscigranjas o ganado, degradando o incluso destruyendo totalmente la fertilidad del suelo, a la vez que aumentando así las emisiones de CO2 y metano.

1. We want to reverse this trend and show small farmers around us that agricultural practices can coexist in harmony with a healthy ecosystem. In collaboration with local indigenous communities, we want to acquire native trees, shrubs, vines and small plants, so we can achieve food security in the region and regenerate the Amazon.

2. Queremos revertir estas practicas y mostrarles a los pequeños agricultores vecinos que es posible practicar la agricultura en harmonia con un ecosistema saludable. En colaboración con comunidades nativas locales planeamos conseguir las semillas o plantones de arboles, arbustos, enredaderas y pequeñas plantas nativas; asi conseguimos seguridad alimenticia a la vez que sanamos la Amazonía.

The reforested plants will be there to stay: no trees will be used for wood unless they fall on their own.

We see restoring degraded ecosystems as our responsibility and the time to act is now!

Las plantas reforestadas estan ahí para quedarse: no se usará ningún arból para madera a no ser que caiga por si mismo.

1. Our Goal:

We aim to plant 3 hectares of native fruit and medicinal trees.

With your help, we can buy small native plants from local indigenous communities, the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and regional public universities, and the necessary equipment and tools. We will hire some neighbors to help us plant the trees, take care of them till they are strong enough, share seeds and exchange knowledge about permaculture and regeneration of soils.

While the trees are still small, we will surround them with different legume plants to help us recover soil fertility and help them grow.

Con tu ayuda podremos comprar los plantones de las comunidades nativas locales, del Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agraria (INIA) y universidades publicas locales, así como comprar el equipamiento y herramientas necesarias. Contrataremos a varios de los vecinos para plantar y cuidar los árboles; hasta que sean suficientemente grandes para vivir por sí solos. Esto nos será de gran ayuda y es una oportunidad para intercambiar semillas y conocimientos sobre alternativas a la agroindustria.
