Hi!
❤️☀️ Reeth Arts Festival is a Festival for the Artists, by the Artists ☀️❤️
Reeth Arts Festival is a Swaledale based arts festival that gives North Yorkshire based artists a creative space to showcase their work completely free of charge.
The Artists don’t pay for their pitch & are therefore able to retain 100% of the money they make on the day, this approach is the entire ethos of the festival - to fully support the Artists on their endeavours to make & sustain a living from their art.
The Festival therefore gives opportunity to local artistic talent & serves as a platform to shine a spotlight on and celebrate local art within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Festival is a 1 day event held
outdoors overlooking Fremington Edge, a beautiful location for the Festival, and creates the perfect space for
self expression and showcasing art.
Many Artists 'create' on the day of the Festival, so that the visitors can see them at work.
This brings the art to life, and visitors can join in too!
It can be very inspirational, especially for children within the community.
The Festival has GREAT value, & we want to keep up the momentum of continuing with the festival - if we are able to hold it again this year - it will be Reeth Arts Festivals 4th year!!
Importantly, there is also NO admission charge to come into the Festival so that it is accessible to all visitors no matter their financial situation - to enjoy perusing the stalls & enjoying music throughout the day from local musicians performing on the trailer stage.
At its core the key message is 'accessibility to art', inclusivity no matter someones financial situation, and to make sure that new up coming artists are able to come and exhibit, including young artists who are testing the water for their work in order to gain confidence and exposure.
A great deal of the Art produced is inspired by the beautiful surroundings in which they live, which only echoes the physical space that the Festival is held in.
At last years Festival the 45 Artists who exhibited raised over £8,000
The History…
1st Yr (’23) 20 artists exhibited and sold their work, approx 200 visitors attended
the festival.
2nd Yr ('24) 30 artists exhibited, circa 400 visitors.
3rd Yr ('25) 45 artists exhibited and sold their work, over 800 visitors attended
the festival.
It's always an incredible & wonderful sight for the Local Artists & volunteers to see, busy stalls, happy faces and lots of colour!
The Festival is growing and is
becoming more 'known' in the community and further afield, it has tremendous value to the community, both the arts community and outside.
HELP…
The Festival is now a ‘unincorporated not for profit charitable association’ with it’s own written constitution, as with the necessary funding all i’s have to be dotted & t’s have to be crossed
We are reaching out for support with funding for this years festival, if you’re able (PLEASE ONLY IF YOU CAN) to pledge an amount to go towards helping to cover the festivals costs for this year that would be wonderful & I know very much appreciated by all the artists!
From a financial perspective unfortunately organising a festival isn’t ’just a field’ … So that you can understand where your money goes (plus the rest that I’ll need to find) here’s a basic breakdown of some of the main costs..
Insurance / Licences £300
Assets / Physical Structures £200 - £1,050
Sound Equipment / Technicians / Services / Paying people £600
Advertising / Marketing / Developing Audiences £600
Facilities £470
Arts & Activity Materials / Creative Costs £430
❤️
Because of the annual struggle for finding funding - at this stage we’re also looking for longer term beneficiaries / sponsors / individuals who are looking to offer philanthropic funding for the festivals part in the arts within our community - if this is you please reach out so that the festival can start to find some stability for it’s future.
- The need, engagement & value of the festival has been found to be there, we now need help to create a much more financially stable base to secure its future. Please email if you think you might be able to help with this.
Thankyou for any support you can offer! ❤️ xxx
