Reese Family Fire Relief

Dear Friends, Family, and Fellow First Responders,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I am humbly reaching out to you today to share tragic news about the fire that destroyed Cameron and Katie Reese’s home, and to ask for your support during this incredibly challenging time for them.

On September 11th, 2023, their house caught fire while they both were away from the home. They had 3 dogs inside the home (Brewski, Ollie, and Maya) at the time of the fire. The fire engulfed the whole living room and kitchen and traveled into the attic. Which caused the fire to spread and the whole house to suffer fire and severe smoke damage which coated all their personal belongings.

All of their clothes were covered in black soot from the smoke leaving them with just the clothes on their backs at the time of the fire. Luckily neighbors noticed the fire as it was billowing out the back of the house and alerted Cameron, Katie, and called the Fire Department. Statesboro Fire Department and Bulloch County Fire Department were able to contain the fire to just the main areas of the home. All three dogs were able to be rescued but suffered injuries due to smoke inhalation and slightly burned paws from the heat.

They are unable to stay at their home due to the severity of the damage and will find out in the coming days whether or not it is a total loss. In total their home suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage which left no room untouched.

While they do have insurance, it will likely not cover the full cost of repairing and rebuilding their home and replacing their belongings. The damage is extensive, and the emotional toll on them is immeasurable.

Rebuilding Their Home: Repairing and reconstructing the parts of their home that were damaged in the fire, including essential utilities like plumbing and electrical systems.

Replacing Lost Belongings: Replacing the possessions that were lost in the fire, particularly items critical to their family life such as cookware, furniture, and appliances.

Temporary Living Expenses: Covering the cost of temporary increases in living expenses such as takeout meals, etc.

Every donation, regardless of its size, will help them regain stability and provide a sense of normalcy.

A little about myself, My wife (Andrea) and I (Dante) have known Cameron and Katie for over a decade since they began their careers in Public Safety. We are also neighbors and close friends. Cameron and Katie have been serving their community for over a decade, and helping anyone with anything that they can and have never asked for anything in return. Now I know they won't ask for help, but the people who need the help the most never ask.
