Hi my name is Charlotte and I’m looking for some help with my girl Reenie if possible.
Reenie has been in a bit of a pickle and things have gone from bad to worse. Reenie started to have trouble with her back legs, after hydrotherapy and physio her condition began to deteriorate. We were referred to RVC specialists in orthapedics, after X-Rays and camera’s in both back legs it was decided that she needed an operation on her right knee urgently. She had two procedures on the 28/10/24, TPLO an Patella Luxation to repair her knee cap and her recovery has been quite hard. Within three weeks she was back to the vets with an infection, and has been on anti-biotics ever since.
Unfortunately, this past week we have noticed that Reenie is very reluctant to go for walks and then she has refused to move and is struggling. After taking her to the vets again they have confirmed that she has ruptured the cruciate ligament in her left leg now and that surgery is urgently needed. We are absolutely distraught for our girl, she’s has a real run of bad luck and I feel so sorry for her.
Reenie will be going in for X-rays and fluid removed from her right leg to ensure the infection is under control and that her right leg is repaired enough to be able to carry out the surgery. This will be on the 2nd January.
As Reenie has been exempt as an XL Bully type we had our insurance stopped abruptly because of the law and her legs would be pre existing. In the past 9 weeks her vet bills have come in over 10k and has cleaned out any savings, we haven’t had time to recover and now we are faced with more vet bills of over £6,500. It doesn’t feel good having to ask for help as it’s not really in me but any help you could give would be greatly appreciated and if not if you could please keep her in your thoughts xx
*** Update - Your generosity has been mind-blowing and truly appreciated.
2/1 Reenie has gone in this morning for sedation, x-rays and joint samples from the right knee. The Vet has explained that we need to see where we are with her infection on her right leg before they would be able to consider surgery on the left leg. Hopefully I will be able to pick her up later this evening and we will have a bit more idea of the plan.
