Help Reena get Cochlear implants!

Hi, my name is April and we are fundraising to get Reena Cochlear implants!

Please help us get Reena cochlear implants! For those of you that don’t know Reena’s story, she was born legally deaf but had some hearing with hearing aids. However, as a young adult, Reena lost what remained of her hearing. She has never been able to hear the voices or laughter of her children. However, Reena is a candidate for cochlear implants and has been approved for the surgery (currently scheduled for 12/14/2022 at Johns Hopkins). However, just the surgery to do one side has a very high out of pocket cost after insurance. We are going to try to raise $20,000 to cover Reena’s portion of the surgery cost for the first surgery, medications, and pre-op testing and extensive post-op follow up appointments (for device programming and adjustments) as well as to help cover time off work. Every penny helps. Help us make Rena’s dream to hear the voices of her three children come true! They recommend waiting at least 2 years before doing the second surgery so anything above and beyond the immediate needs associated with the first surgery can be applied toward the second which will likely require the same out of pocket expenses.
