My name is Aisha Allen and I am the Founder of Reel Mamas Chicago, LLC a Digital Media Company and Online Magazine dedicated to empowering and inspiring women filmmakers. I started RMC back in 2018, after I returned to school to finish my MFA in Cinema Directing at Columbia College Chicago.
RMC started off as a facebook group and blog where members shared news and resources. I wanted to also share my journey as a mom in film and inspire other women to go for their dream. Since then, we have transitioned into a Digital Media Company and Online Magazine dedicated to elevating the voices of women in the TV/Film industry.
Our online magazine features interviews, film reviews, feature stories, essays and videos. In 2019, we attended many film festivals and events in the Chicago Area . We have interviewed many amazing Women in the Film industry including Kasi Lemmons, Director of Harriet and Oscar Award Winning Production Designer, Hannah Beachler.
This is where we need your help! In 2020, we plan to expand our presence by taking our team on the road and traveling to more film festivals around the nation to provide press coverage starting with the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in January 23, 2020!- February 2, 2020!!
In 2020, we will also start producing more original content including: commercials, promo videos, music videos, short films and feature films. We currently have several projects in development which include a Narrative Feature film "Not Your Average Muslimah" and a Documentary "The Cost of Time." This is where you come in! We need your help to improve our production quality as we take this show on the road. All funds raised will go towards Sundance Film Festival travel and hotel expenses for my team, the purchase of a new camera, sound equipment, harddrives, and a computer dedicated to video editing. Our goal is to raise $6,000!!!
