On June 2nd, 2026, the Reeds family’s world changed forever.

Jeremy William Scott Reeds tragically passed away after a work-related accident, leaving behind his wife Brenda, the children he loved and raised, his family, his friends, and everyone who knew the kind of man he was.

Jeremy was only 48 years old.

He was born and raised in The City of Kawartha Lakes. To some, he was Jeremy. To many of us, he was Jer. But to Brenda and his family, he was everything.

Jeremy was a husband, father, stepfather, son, friend, roofer, and provider. He was old school in the best way — loyal, honourable, direct, funny, hardworking, and a man of his word. If someone needed help, Jeremy showed up. No speech. No expectation. No hesitation.

That was just who he was.

He spent his life working long, hard hours as a roofer to provide for the people he loved. Roofing is not easy work. It is demanding, exhausting, and unforgiving, but Jeremy did it because his family depended on him. Providing for them was not just his responsibility. It was part of who he was.

When he came home, whatever energy he had left went to Brenda, the kids, the house, the vehicles, or whatever needed fixing. He was a homebody because home was where his heart was.

Brenda was his world — his best friend, his partner, his soulmate. They went everywhere together and did everything together. Their life was built around family, loyalty, hard work, and showing up for one another.

Jeremy raised four daughters and a son. He was there for lessons, events, vacations, trips to the trailer, hard conversations, life lessons, and the everyday moments that become everything when someone is gone. He taught his kids to be strong and independent, but he was also the person they could count on when life got heavy.

Now, in an instant, Brenda and the family are left trying to understand how life continues without him.

The grief alone is more than any family should have to carry. But along with the heartbreak, Brenda is now facing the financial reality of losing the person who carried the household.

Jeremy was the main provider. Brenda stayed home to care for the family and occasionally made cakes from home for extra income, but Jeremy’s income was what kept the bills paid, the mortgage moving, and the family afloat. As an independent roofer, he worked hard enough to keep life going, but like many hardworking families, there was no large safety net waiting for a moment like this.

There may be support down the road, but nothing is guaranteed, and the family needs help now.

This fundraiser has been created by family and close friends to support Brenda and the Reeds family through the months ahead. Brenda and the family are proud, private people who have always been more comfortable helping others than asking for help themselves. This is not easy for them. But those of us who love them know this is one of those moments where people need to step forward.

The funds raised will go toward immediate end-of-life expenses, the remaining mortgage, monthly household bills, and giving Brenda time to grieve without the added fear of how everything will be paid. One of Jeremy’s daughters has already had to place end-of-life expenses on her credit card, and that is a burden no child should have to carry after losing their father.

If this campaign is able to go beyond the immediate needs, we also hope to help finish the home repairs and renovations Jeremy had been trying to complete for his family. This is not about luxury. It is about helping Brenda and the family live in the home Jeremy was trying to finish for them, without leaving them buried under the weight of unfinished work, financial stress, and grief all at once.

Jeremy spent his life showing up for the people he loved.

Now we are asking for help to show up for them.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward supporting Brenda and the Reeds family. If you can give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you cannot give, sharing this fundraiser is still a meaningful way to help.

Jeremy spent his life carrying the weight for his family.

Now it is our turn to help carry some of that weight for them.
