Reece's Urgent Spinal Surgery Fund

My name is Vanessa. I'm a mom of 3. My oldest son Reece is 10 years old and was born with congenital scoliosis. He’s had 3 spinal surgeries since 2021. He was set to have numbers 4 and 5 this year in August and September. However, he’s been having a hard time walking, so we brought him to the ER at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 3rd. He had more X-rays and another MRI. After getting the MRI results, we were told his spinal cord is being squeezed between his vertebrae, causing stenosis. He was put into halo traction yesterday July 14th. He was supposed to be in the halo for 5 weeks but today the doctor noticed he is loosing more strength in his legs. He’s developed clonus. He may possibly go in for emergency today to try and save his leg function. We will be in the hospital for 6-8 weeks as of now and undergo 1-2 spinal surgeries. I was not financially prepared to be off work just yet. Trying to navigate how I’m going to continue to work and take care of my other 2 children is overwhelming.
