Reece's Job Loss & Post-Recovery Support Fund

Hi, I'm Reece! The last few years have been incredibly difficult, to say the least. I've had two major surgeries in the past two years, the most recent of which I am still recovering from due to complications that left me in the hospital through Christmas of this past year. In addition, I was unexpectedly terminated from my primary job, which was both financially and emotionally painful to experience. It is very scary to experience this sudden loss of income at a time when the world is already very unsafe feeling to exist.

As a Black, chronically ill, disabled human, it feels hard to ask for help. There are so many narratives I've learned as a child of immigrants about earning the right to meet my basic needs, about "not asking for handouts", and about not sharing when I am in need as to not invoke pity from others, and it is difficult to feel so disempowered in the loss of this job. However, I also believe in mutual aid and community care, and as I lack a lot of privilege, I am asking for support from others to help me while I try to navigate finding a new job and begin planning to move to a safer state at the end of the year.
