RED Zone Sports Camp is Back!

RED Zone sports camp was started in 2016 as a community service project by MC high schoolers Ben Skinner and Jack Wirth to provide a co-ed summer and sports camp experience to students of Hamilton School in Novato, Marin County, CA.

The name RED Zone stands for "Respect, Effort, Determination" and the camp has been a great success over the past seven years. We hope to have 40-50 kids attend this year's camp, which starts on June 12th. This year it will be run by counselors Kate Schraeder, RJ Scheuring, Abby Mogan, Noah DiRienzo, Mackenzie Pinksa, Max Mokelke, Kathryn George, Ben Johnston, Peyton Forrest, Vince Tarantino, Izzy McFadden, Jack McGovern, Sienna Taylor, Lucy Vollert and Everett Chang.

Hamilton is a kindergarten through 8th grade school. More than 70% of the kids that attend this school are below the poverty line. During the summer months, many of these children can not afford camp or other enriching summer activities. RED Zone gives them something to look forward to - something that is active, healthy and engaging. If they aren’t doing the summer school program at Hamilton, many of these kids will have to go to work with their parents or just stay home with nothing to do.

This sports camp will give these kids an opportunity to get outside, run around, learn new skills, play sports and games, make new friends, and give them memories that will last them a long time. We have some new games and surprises planned and we’d love support to make sure it happens, but in order to make this year another success, we need financial support.

We have created this donation site at gofundme.com where you can donate small or large sums of money to help make this summer camp happen. Our goal is to reach $1,500 by May 31, 2023. This budget helps cover field rental costs, insurance, sports/games and other equipment, food/snacks/drinks, as well as, t-shirts for our campers.
