Hello! I'm Red and I tore my damn knee up. It's likely I tore my ACL back in August and didn't notice (happens more than I thought), and then finally sought medical care after a larger tear incident on January 25th.
I have a full thickness ACL tear and a large bucket handle tear in my medial meniscus. I decided to pursue the surgical route because I would love to run, hike, bike, dance, and live life without osteoarthritis for as long as possible.
I'm getting an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair on 5/8. I'm nervous and excited to finally be on the road to recovery but that road is paved with expenses! Thankfully my care, as far as I know, is paid for by a godsent medical bill discount I was able to secure through my insurance. The extent of that coverage isn't known to me yet but regardless, I'm here to humbly ask for help with rent, food, and various medical items that aren't otherwise covered by Kaiser.
My rent is 1,200 a month and is thankfully already paid for the month of May! However, I have to take a full 6 weeks off my feet according to my surgeon, so I can't work during that time. So the bulk of this payment with go to rent for June.
The extra 200 will go to paying for nourishing and protein rich groceries that will aid the recovery of the graft, and helping pay for a leg elevation pillow and ice cast.
Feel free to donate whatever you're comfortable with, and please share if you feel inclined. Anyone who can't donate (completely understandable and fuck the economy), please feel free to reach out because I will be very bored for awhile! Thank you and love yall
