Redhawk Artist Relief Fund
Greetings Relatives,
We at Redhawk Native American Arts Council have had a community responsibility for the last 26 years to make sure our peoples in the greater New York area and Turtle Island are uplifted and held - especially in times of crisis.
Over the last three decades, we have held countless events where we have been able to host and financially support artists and makers from not only the New York area, but across the nation.
Given the onslaught of COVID-19, our community has suffered greatly. All of our Pow Wows for the spring and summer have been cancelled / postponed indefinitely leaving our artists with no income. Many who have sought out unemployment have been unsuccessful in the process and have yet to receive their stimulus check(s). These are dire times for people who earn a living holding on to traditions that have been passed on from generation to generation. These artists and performers rely on our events to help them make an honest living - and we need to continue to provide / facilitate that for them.
So, for this #GivingTuesday and beyond, we are asking you to help us with supporting our most impacted community members.
We are looking to give bursaries to 25 Indigenous artists, dancers, speakers, and creators of $1000 each… and we can’t do this without your help!
All donations to the Redhawk Artist Relief Fund are completely tax deductible and will go to folx in need at this time.
We will be opening the application process once we have adequate funding, and will announce the awardees on our website: redhawkcounil.org
Stay safe relatives - and take care of each other.
