The Redemption Racers team is at it again!! In case you’re not sure who we are or what we do, here you go: we are a group of runners who tackle long distance races, running both day and night, living in a van, eating bananas, and inevitably smelling a bit stinky! Now, maybe you question why we do that…that’s what we want to share.
Redemption racers began as a way to honor Jaime, the sister of one of our teammates whose life was cut short. We wanted a way to continually remember her and for her legacy to make a positive impact on others, so Redemption Racers was born. Our races are a means to fundraise for causes that are important to us. As a team we have raced in five states along with Washington DC and raised thousands of dollars to help improve the lives of others.
We are back this year with a new challenge but are excited to raise money once again for Team 360! Team 360 is an amazing organization based on the Eastern Shore of Maryland that helps differently abled athletes compete in mainstream sporting events. They support their athletes in runs, cycling events and triathlons. They are a volunteer-based organization and the families of athletes do not pay to participate, funding comes from donors and fundraising. The impact that Team 360 has on the lives of those who they support is incredible to see. Our Redemption Racers team also fundraised for them in 2021 and were able to help them purchase a much-needed piece of equipment. We hope to have another successful campaign so that they can continue their mission of making mainstream sports accessible to all!
This year our race takes us all the way down to the Florida Keys. We will battle the heat and humidity in south Florida as we make our way towards the finish line in Key West. You can follow our journey through our Facebook page and donate to Team 360 through our GoFundMe campaign. You can also learn more about Team 360 on their website, https://www.team360run.com. We are training hard, preparing, and spreading the word about what we are doing, all in the hopes of raising money to bring joy to the athletes of Team 360 and their families. In this way, we honor Jaime and ensure the legacy that she left is one of service and love. We hope you will follow along and help us reach our goal!
