Redemption - Paris 2024 Marathon Pour Tous

Eleven years ago, April 7, 2013, was my most disappointing day as a runner. I got a DNF (did not finish) for the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon. It has haunted me ever since. When the Paris 2024 Marathon Pour Tous (marathon for all) for the Paris Summer Olympics was announced, I saw this as my opportunity for redemption.

On April 5, 2024, the 11th Anniversary of my arrival in Paris, I received notice that I was accepted into the Marathon Pour Tous to be run on Saturday, August 10, 2024, as one of the closing events for the 2024 Paris Olympics. I, along with 20,023 amateur athletes, will be able to run the same route as the Olympic marathoners. This will be an extraordinary experience, on a unique and original route.

I am surprised and honored to have been chosen. I am not an elite runner, and I thought my chances were slim to none for the Marathon Pour Tous. I have wanted to go back to Paris to redeem myself. The Olympics is the perfect opportunity. I have decided to discontinue the marathon distance from my repertoire, and 2024 will be my last year for marathons. I have completed 11 marathons (26.2 miles) and one ultra (31.069 miles):

I may participate in five marathons in 2024, but I want to end on a high note with a completion (redemption) and personal record (PR) in Paris and as an official Marathon Maniac with gold status (four marathons in four States within 51 days) earned in an Olympic year.

I'll need your help and support mentally, physically, spiritually, verbally and financially. I'll need accountability partners. The next four months will be a whirlwind.
