Well we are at it again and again we need your partnership. A little over 3 years ago we asked you to help us raise money for the church we had started. That church, Resurgence Church, is now thriving and we have handed it off to the Associate Pastor and its now located in north Shirley.
Nikki, Josiah and I have left Resurgence Church in great hands and feel God is calling us to a new adventure.
And so our plan is....drum roll please... to plant another church one town over in Mastic NY. Let me give you a quick rundown on Mastic, its a massively diverse area, 46.1% White, 22.4% African American, 21.8% Hispanic or Latino , 10.0% other.
In the midst of all that cultural beauty and diversity there is a crippling opioid problem, gang activity and sexual and physical abuse on an overwhelming scale.
As a Christian I beleive there is hope, and its a hope rooted in Jesus. I spent a good portion of my life before Christ immersed in the drug world. What has worked for me and I believe for all people is being arrested, not by the law, but arrested by the love, grace and power that comes from God himself.
So what we want to do, and we desperately need your help to do it is plant a church in Mastic that aims to be radically different from most churches and yet something that people in Mastic would love to check out and become involved with.
Our plan is to start Redemption Hill Church late this coming fall and, are you ready for this, for the church service to take contemporary Christian worship and blend it with hip hop, and also incorporate a DJ on Sunday mornings. I'm sure the religious people wont be a fan, but we don't really care. We want to see the community transformed with the Gospel and to do it in a way that those in the community can actually connect with and relate to.
So we need your help to begin to unfold this- we are already setting up the pieces and have locked in a building to use, now we just need to start raising some funds for all the legal aspects and equipment etc. Please consider helping us and seeing a community transformed for Jesus.
