Reddit Vancouver Support for Kapwa Strong
In the wake of the devastating tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival, r/Vancouver is coming together once again in unity to support a community that needs our help. This time, we’re raising funds for the United Way’s Kapwa Strong Fund, which is providing direct aid to the impacted Filipino community, including immediate support, trauma counseling, and long-term recovery services.
Over the past few years, r/Vancouver has shown just how powerful this community can be when we rally together, including raising over $100,000 for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. We’re proud of the generosity and compassion that defines this subreddit.
During the first critical hours and days after the Lapu Lapu tragedy, r/Vancouver played a vital role in disseminating information, sharing safety updates, and amplifying community voices. Many of you offered resources, translations, and on-the-ground updates when they were needed most - over 5 million people viewed those updates from around the world. Now, we have a chance to continue that support in a lasting, tangible way.
Let’s come together once more to show our neighbours, and the world, what kind of community we really are. Every donation, big or small, helps. If you can, please give. If you can't donate, consider sharing the fundraiser or uplifting the voices and stories of those affected.
Vancouver went through an immense tragedy, but we can stand together and make a difference. Whether you can donate $5, $10, $50, or $500, every bit counts.
