Redding Alano - Replace the ROOF!
Donation protected
When I moved to Redding, I went to AA meetings every day. I needed to get connected and find a place that felt like home. Most of those meetings were at the Alano Club. My first friends in Redding AA came from the Club.
Today, the Alano Club is still a safe haven for sobriety where new people can go every day, even three times a day, to start their journey in recovery. I am grateful for that. For me, gratitude means action! So many men and women have shown me gratitude in action by giving their time, money, and efforts to build up the Alano club over the years.
Just like in our personal programs, the need for ongoing maintenance continues!
Have you looked at the Alano roof lately? There are rotten boards, missing shingles, and peeling paint where the water has penetrated through the roof. The club doesn't have the money to replace the roof.
So it is up to us – do we fix the problem for years to come? Here is how you can help:
1. Put the club in contact with a roofing company that's willing to donate services. All donations are tax deductable!
2. Donate funds.
3. Pass this request on to 5 people who might be able to help. It takes a group to make the club thrive!
4. Leave a comment on this page telling how the club has helped you or a loved one.
The estimate we have for a full replacement and repair is $12,000. Current building code requires that we add insulation to the attic if we replace the roof, so the cost of insulation is included in the replacement cost.
Please note - the recipient of this page is Robert Z. (although most of us know him as Dan), he is the treasurer for the Alano club. He handles all funds for the Alano Club, regularly reports the financial status to the Alano Club board, and is truly a trusted servant. If you wish to check on the status of your donation, you are welcome to come to any Alano Club board meeting and review our financial report. Also, donations are tax deductible and our California non-profit ID number is 663441.
Our goal is to be ready to replace or repair the roof by June of 2016. We made minimal repairs to the roof in October so we can get through the winter. I don’t know how this will work. Hopefully by June the path will be clear and we will have a contractor willing to donate services or the money to pay for what the club needs. I look forward to seeing how this works out!
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for being a part of the Club and I hope you thrive and grow in your sobriety.
