Red Tape - Short Film
Donation protected

Welcome to the page for "Red Tape," a Curtin University production made by third year Screen Arts students.
"Red Tape" is a sci-fi historical drama that explores the nature of truth. Set in 1970s East Germany, we follow an investigation into an extraordinary and inexplicable event witnessed by two Border Troops. With this film, we will examine how an oppressive state that demands a set, state-approved explanation for all events responds to an event that has no explanation.
A test shoot of a draft script excerpt, using temporary locations, costumes, and props, can be viewed at the following link:

This scene follows Ernst Neumann, a border troop for the East Germany Military, as he is interrogated by Captain Friedrich Jung about an inexplicable event he witnessed whilst out on patrol.
With your support we'll be able to acquire better locations, costumes, props, and equipment to make this the best film it can be. As a period piece set in 1970s East Germany, a significant portion of our budget will be put towards costuming and art department to purchase period-accurate props and costuming. Further, our primary forest and prison locations both have a substantial cost attached. Lastly, shooting outdoors at nighttime requires the hire of a generator - and a large one at that!
Whilst we are covering many of the costs of the film ourselves, our September shoot will benefit from your support.

Our crew is comprised of talented third year film students.
