Because what’s scarier than the American healthcare system, right?

Red State masterfully blends the absurd with the acutely real, delivering a satirical roller coaster that lambasts political and social norms through the lens of horror-comedy.

  • "When two Texas besties summon Bloody Mary to help with an unplanned pregnancy in a post-Roe world, they ignite a wild, supernatural campaign for women's rights, turning the infamous demon into the fiercest feminist icon and first ghost president that America never knew it needed."

Stacy is facing an all-too-familiar dilemma in a post-Roe v. Wade world: an unexpected pregnancy with no clear solution in sight. Enter Crystal, her high-haired, long-nailed sidekick, embodying the spirit of excess and modern-day empowerment.

Their banter, drippin’ with Texan drawl that’s sharp as a tack, slices through the tension, serving humor at every turn. Their solution? Summoning Bloody Mary.

Because, why not?
When life gives you lemons, summon a ghost.

Bloody Mary, in a delightful twist, isn’t just your run-of-the-mill spectre. She's a fiercely independent woman with a killer (pun intended) sense of justice and a surprisingly deep understanding of women's healthcare rights.

The transformation of Bloody Mary into a political figurehead is where Red State hits its comedic stride. The notion of a blood-drenched ghost running for president in response to the country's healthcare debacle is as absurd as it is a scathing commentary on the state of American politics.

In a world where the lines between the real and the ridiculous blur, Red State serves up a concoction of laughs, scares, and satirical punches. The script skilfully dances on the grave of neo-conservatism, wielding humour as both a weapon and a balm.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, I want a world with rights for all!"

...VOTE BLOODY MARY!

Director's Vision

My connection to Red State is deeply personal. Having navigated the daunting labyrinth of the US healthcare system, I've seen how women's rights can get lost in the politics. And the way we recover from that is by opening up the discussion in an accessible, satirical way. This isn't just a narrative to me; it's a reflection of lived realities, making the film's bold discussion of rights for people with uteruses and healthcare not just relevant, but vital. This project offers a canvas to challenge, entertain, and catalyze conversation on deeply personal yet universally relevant topics.

Our incredible crew are donating their time and talent for free, and we need your help to get the last bits funded: props, costumes, sound stage rental, lumber, studio rental, location fees, city permits, colour grading facilities, sound recording studios, insurance, hard drives, equipment rental, sound equipment, and so much more.

If you believe in film with a dose of humour and a big dash of feminism, please support our dream and help make this film a reality!
