"In July 2001, Simeon and I awoke at 5am each day in order to get from Sai Kung to our summer job on the golf course at Clearwater Bay. Every morning, without fail, Sim would look up at Fei Ngo Shan, illuminated orange by the lights of Kowloon, and cry 'Red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky at dawn, shepherd's warning.' He would grin his cheeky grin, and we'd set off down the Ho Chung Road for another day of hard labour. I rarely see a red sky without thinking of Simeon." - Ross Parker

In commemoration of Simeon's life, and the wonderfully positive impact he had on us, his family and friends would like to place a memorial bench on the Hong Kong coastline in his honour. An inscription on the bench will pay tribute to Simeon, and invite passers-by to rest for a moment, to take comfort and refuge, and to offer a blessing to their own family and friends. The bench will be hand-crafted in teak by Simeon's friends, working with a Hong Kong-based carpenter, as a token of our love for him. 

To fund the bench, we will be holding a Red Sky At Dawn Run at 5am on Monday the 27th of November. The run will be from Tai Yeung Che village in Tai Po to Wu Shek Kok village in Sha Tau Kok. The destination is where we hope to place the bench. Friends and family are welcome to join the run, which will total 17km.

HK$14,000 (£1450) will cover the bench and delivery, with another HK$4,000 (£400) for installation.

Any surplus funds will be donated to Simeon's family to support them in the coming months and years.
