WELL HELLO CUTIES
A MIRACLE HAS OCCURRED
COME, GATHER ROUND, AND I SHALL TELL YOU OF IT
Quick recap: hi I'm Red and I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type 3 (so I use a cane), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a Chiari malformation in my brain, dysautonomia, early on set arthritis, autism, I've been unhoused a lot and have spent since 2014 being passed around beds and couches and friends of mine all over the country. Plus I have a bunch of PTSD from [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]!!! Plus plus plus I'm cute as a button, or so my joyfriend tells me!
I've been looking for a more permanent/safe place for me to stay for so long now, and after six years on a waiting list my number finally came up and I've been put in low-income disability studio apartment housing in Seattle! I love the weather here, it's the only weather that has ever made my health stuff feel more bearable. It's cold and gray AND IT FUELS ME WITH INFINITE POWERS!
for real tho it feels really nice here, this is the first time I've been able to go outside and walk since February, literally. (This is partly weather related and partly because I just get attacked on the street a lot, and it's been happening more than ever lately.) But my neighborhood in Seattle, while full of the squeeze and strain of gentrification, is at least safe enough for me to move around in outside! I've been outside SO MANY TIMES! IT IS RLY FUN TO GO OUTSIDE! (so long as there isn't a heat dome lol)
I had to put a lot of money on a couple credit cards to make this move happen though. I was supplied no financial moving help and I had to fly up from California to Washington and back several times on short notice on my own dime for meetings and paperwork. I had to furnish every last bit of my apartment myself, I had to hire a moving company myself, I had to buy three hotel stays for my joyfriend and I (while they drove us up the coast with all my crap, which they paid for thank gawd). I had to buy a lot of lyfts for us around town because a heat dome was over Seattle when we got here and I can't be outside in that and we had so much stuff to buy. I had to spend hundreds and hundreds on groceries because I had NONE FOOD. Also packages I had been sending here were stolen because the postal service rly struggles with package safety in this area, so I can't really do deliveries safely here.
But my food stamps application has now gone through the system, I'm going to be getting a free public transit card, I have an A/C machine for the warm days, I'm sending deliveries to California to keep 'em safe, and I'm now an actual paying rent person out of my disability payments. I am reaching equilibrium and safety. (Unless Trump gets elected, cuz the weirdo rightoids been throwing trans ppl out of all social services lolsob) Buuuuuut! I still only make a small amount per month, too small to ever pay down all the thousands I just put on these cards this year to move. Sooooooooo hey got any spare change?
No but rly, anything you can contribute is huge to me, and also lemme tell you it is amazing to have a place to myself for the first time in my whole life ever! It is beautiful and good. Oh jeez wow oh jeez wow oh jeeeeeez :3
Thank y'all for reading all this, yr the best of all the beans in Beantown, and hi thank you thank you thank uuuuuuuuuuuu <3
with love and cold weather happiness,
