Red is my heart horse — my little constant in life — and I’ve been supporting him completely on my own while living solo and working two jobs just to keep us afloat. He’s my whole world, and I’ve always made it work… until now.
Lately, Red started acting “off,” and I knew something wasn’t right. What I thought would be a quick vet check turned into weeks of tests, bloodwork, neurologic exams, second opinions, and a whole lot of stress and guessing. After all of that, we finally got an answer:
Red has EPM, a neurologic disease caused by a parasite (thanks, opossums ). It messes with a horse’s nervous system — balance, eating, drinking, even just standing normally. It’s scary to watch and even scarier to think about what could happen without treatment.
He’s now on meds and will need 2–3 months of treatment plus frequent vet visits and testing. The bills are adding up fast, and honestly… I’m struggling. I’m doing everything I can, but between rent, two jobs, and life in general, I can’t keep up with the sudden flood of medical costs.
I hate asking for help, but I love this horse more than anything. If you’re able to donate or even share this, it would mean the world to me (and to Red). Every little bit helps us keep fighting. ❤️
