Who We Are
We are a group of 8 ambitious film students in their final semester at one of the top 30 film schools in the world, California State University Northridge. During this semester we have been tasked with creating a 20-25 minute pilot for a new series.
In the months to come my fellow peers and I will be raising money for our project titled Red Clover which follows a young girl who gets stuck in her favorite book. This is a story that I wrote years back and I'm eager to see it come to life.
Short Summary
My name is Makenna Waters and I am the Executive Producer, Creator, and Writer for Red Clover. Years ago I wrote Red Clover as a short story for a creative writing class. I fell so deeply in love with this story and desired to continue it so I decided that I would work to put my vision on a screen so I could share it with other people. It is my desire, and my teams, to create something great so after graduation we could bring it to networks and studios when we graduate and pitch it to them as a new and exciting show.
With your help, not only will you help students visions come to life and help create an incredible project, but you will be eligible to receive tax deductions AND your name will be tied to the production. That means that when this production is over and we bring it to networks, YOU will get a credit for this project! What's The Story?
OUTLANDER meets FREAKY FRIDAY in pilot episode Red Clover. When dorky fangirl Katrina (Kat) makes a wish to become part of the final book of her favorite series, Red Clover, she switches places with the main character of the story, Athena, an assassin who is leading a rebellion against the power hungry King Draxon. Upon entering the book, Kat is captured by a mercenary named Kassandra, who befriends Kat just to betray her trust when she tries to collect the bounty on Kat's head. Meanwhile in the real world, Jamie, Kat's best friend, comes to her apartment just to find an angry and confused assassin, Athena, who thinks Jamie is one of the mercenaries that was trying to capture her in the book. When Athena and Jamie both realize that something is wrong, Jamie comes to realize that this woman reminds him of the character from the book. He then realizes something is wrong with the book, Kat's name is in it... not Athena's. When Jamie skims to the back of the book, he is distraught to find the worst news of all... Kat is going to die. With Athena's help, Jamie goes on a quest to find the author of the books before Kat is lost to him forever.
What We Need & What You Get
California State University, Northridge is requiring that thesis projects raise a minimum of $10,000 for our projects. Unfortunately, my team and I are unable to come up with such funds solely by ourselves. My desire it to raise the minimum amount, but I am aiming to reach at least $12,000 to make this project truly successful. We will be using these funds for:
Equipment Rentals
- Cameras, lenses, lighting etc.
Permits
- We are shooting in two different counties.
Locations
- We would like to shoot at Mt. Pinos in Los Padres National Forest, Frazier Park, CA
- A coffee shop
- Apartment/suite
Crafts Services and Catering
Licensing Fees
Transportation
- equipment trucks/vans.

The Impact
Red Clover is a project that is incredibly close to my heart. It is a fun story with adventure, mystery, wit, love, and twists unlike anything that has been made before. Just this past November I produced a project that my team and I made after raising $1,200. The project was only successful because of generous people like you, and this one relies even more so on your help than my past one.
Risks & Challenges
There is no guarantee that this production will turn out at the quality I want it to be, but it will not go anywhere without your help. The more we raise, the better this project will be. Of course, if we do not raise the money we need we will ultimately have to take short cuts and the project will not be exactly what we wanted.
No matter what happens, this project will be made and we will make it the best it can be. With your help though, it can be better. It can be great. The smallest donation will go a long way to making this project the quality it can and should be.

Asking people for money is hard, but giving money can be even harder. I understand some people truly don't have the means to donate. Believe me, I sympathize as a broke student!
