@recuerdosdenicaragua is a digital humanities project and collection primarily focusing on the history, material, dress and textile culture of the Indigenous and Afro communities in the Mosquito Coast of Nicaragua and Honduras. Since 2018, the project has consisted of a digital Instagram archive in addition to a physical collection. The physical archive houses over twenty-five objects of ephemera, books, photographs, and textiles.

@recuerdoesdenicaragua is seeking to expand our digital humanities project and collection to make it accessible to a global audience. You can help us preserve the history of the Mosquito Coast in Nicaragua and Honduras by donating to our GoFundMe.

Your donations will go towards the following expansions:

1. @recuerdosdenicaragua website that will function as a digital archive and central database linking to online resources such as museum collections, libraries, archives videos, texts, blogs, etc.

This will be the first and only centralized database of its kind to focus solely on the culture and history of the Mosquito Coast in Nicaragua and Honduras.

2. Lecture and workshop series:
- In-person and digital lectures and symposia on coastal Nicaraguan, Honduran, Amerindian, and Afro-Latinx culture in the Americas and the diaspora.
- In-person and digital workshops focused on Nicaraguan, Honduran, Amerindian and Afro-Latinx culture in the Americas and the
diaspora.

3. Growing the @recuerdosdenicaragua collection - funds to purchase historical and contemporary objects, photographs, postcards, other ephemera, and publications that pertain to the history and cultural preservation of Mosquito coastal communities. The collection, dedicated to the cultures of the Mosquito Coast, is the first and only of its kind in the United States. Each piece selected for purchase to the collection will be voted on by the @recuerdoesdenicaragua committee.

4. Archival supplies to preserve the physical collection, such as acid-free archival materials and scanners.

5. An exhibition showcasing the @recuerdosdenicaragua physical archive.

6. Publication of the @recuerdosdenicaragua collection.

7. 10% of your donation will go the following non-profit organization: Native Hope

"Native Hope exists to address the injustice done to Native Americans. We dismantle barriers through storytelling and impactful programs to bring healing and inspire hope."
