Please contribute to recreate the peony memorial for Allie Telinde (Parentice-Aleff).
After the tragic and unimaginable loss of Allie Telinde (Parentice-Aleff, 1992-2022) Tim Navin of Sparks Fly Studio painstakingly hand created a beautiful metal peony scultpure especially in Allie’s memory. It was a public tribute to Allie. Family and friends were able to feel a connection to her when visiting this memorial. The peony went missing in the spring of 2024. The utter devastation was felt by all - imagine going to the cemetery and finding your loved one’s headstone vandalized or missing all together - absolutely heartbreaking. All attempts to have the peony returned have failed, and the hope now is to work together to raise money so Sparks Fly Studio can create the peony again.
Allie first met the artist Tim Navin while spearheading efforts to create a public memorial for Warren Barnes, her friend and local community member who had been senselessly murdered. The incredible outcome of the collaboration between Tim and Allie is the metal chair and tree sculpture which can be admired while in the breezeway off of Main Street in Grand Junction, CO. When Allie passed, it felt fitting to have her memorial, the peony, at the same location as Warren’s tree. This tribute to Warren was very important to Allie, and this specific spot in the breezeway was somewhere Allie spent quite a bit of time.
The peony is Allie’s favorite flower. Allie was beautiful, fun-loving, kind and compassionate - especially to those less fortunate than herself. She was very active in community service, and had a special connection to elderly people. She really loved downtown Grand Junction, which is why the location of the memorial, between 5th and 6th streets off of Main, was so fitting.
This senseless vandalism created a void for those needing a place to grieve and celebrate Allie and it also scarred Warren’s memorial. Allie loved to see people come together, please consider a donation to support Tim in creating a new peony sculpture. We miss you Allie!
