Recovery Support for Brian Perez

Everyone already knows that Brian has a big heart - now we get to help it. :)  

Brian was recently diagnosed with Mitral Regurgitation. After initial tests,  it's been determined that Brian will need to have open heart surgery in the very near future. 

There have been so many offers of help and support in response to Brian's Facebook posts about his condition, that we thought it would be a good idea to set up a GoFundMe account. I should say that Brian didn't really want to do a GoFundMe initially, but after a few conversations about the benefits, he was convinced. I am a friend of his and have known Brian for over a decade. I offered to set this up and manage it for him. 

Open heart surgery and recovery is scary enough on its own, but the added layer of having to do this during a pandemic with the threat of being exposed to Covid would prove to be catastrophic for Brian.  For this reason, Brian has moved from his apartment to further quarantine and social distance himself from any possible Covid exposure. The move has depleted his savings. Being unemployed due to the pandemic, Brian is getting a $175 weekly as his only source of income. Without any opportunity to work or have sustainable income for the foreseeable future, this is where we can be most impactful for Brian's recovery. 

The money raised through this campaign will help with the added expense of recovery on top of all recurring bills. Sarah Callsen has offered to help him during his recovery as his caretaker. She is also unemployed due to the pandemic, and the costs of driving to and from appointments as well as getting groceries for Brian will stack up. Copays are also starting to build, funds raised will help with these additional expenses.

If you'd like to assist and minimize the financial burden of this unexpected surgery, a donation of any size is greatly appreciated. We know many of people are also facing financial hardships and won't be able to donate. Those that can, truly any amount is one less worry for Brian. I will keep this page up to date with information regarding Brian's surgery and recovery, as updates become available.
